Conservation Areas like the Great Pond Nature Preserve will add 265 acres adjacent to the 560-acre Northwest Park in the Town of Windsor. A series of trails and pathways will link residents and visitors to streams, wetlands, mature hardwood forests and the Farmington River. The preserve will allow non-motorized vehicle access such as mountain bikes and strollers.

This is a remarkably diverse ecology with the forest, stream corridors, and ponds adjacent to the protected Farmington River watershed.
